Chief Advisor and UN Secretary-General arrives in Cox’s Bazar to visit Rohingya refugee camps

Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have arrived in Cox’s Bazar to visit Rohingya refugee camps.

The chartered flight carrying Professor Yunus and Guterres landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport at around 12:48 pm on Friday.

Farooq-e-Azam, the advisor in charge of the Ministry of Disaster Management, welcomed them at the airport.

As part of the visit, Principal Advisor Professor Yunus will inaugurate a project at Cox’s Bazar Airport and visit the Khurushkul Climate Refugee Center.

After the visit, Dr. Muhammad Yunus will join UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for iftar with about 100,000 Rohingya refugees in Ukhiya.

Guterres will travel directly from the airport to Ukhiya, where he will visit the Rohingya Learning Center, the Rohingya Cultural Center, and a jute products production center.

After the inspection and iftar, the Chief Advisor and the UN Secretary-General will return to Dhaka together in the evening.
