People’s Artist of Russia Anatoly Vasiliev became famous thanks to his roles in the film “Crew” and the TV series “Matchmakers”. What is he doing now, what is known about his personal life and attitude towards Ukraine?
What is Vasiliev famous for?
Anatoly Vasiliev was born on November 6, 1946 in Nizhny Tagil, graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School. The actor made his screen debut in 1977 in the film “Steppe”. He became famous for his role as co-pilot Valentin Nenarokov in the film “Crew” and for his role as professor Yuri Kovalev in the TV series “Matchmakers”. The actor left the latter project after the fourth season due to creative dissatisfaction: he wanted the film to become deeper and more serious.
“We have earned the love of the people with ‘Svaty’ – why don’t we deepen all this, do it seriously? Show how we, matchmakers, helped each other in this or that situation, so that we open up as human beings. But if everything is filmed according to the principle of ‘one, two – ho-ho-ho, we had a laugh’, then I am not interested in it,” Vasiliev explained.
In total, his filmography includes more than 70 works, including the films Extraordinary Circumstances, Tatyana’s Day, Balzac Age, or All Men Are Bastards, Fathers and Sons, St. Andrew’s Flag, Bear’s Corner and others.
